UNDERFIRE MINIATURES RELEASE RAR STICK IN 28MM

Standard

Underfire Miniatures have just released these RAR (Rhodesian African Rifles) 28mm figures, so my order will be going in asap. They look stunning and very accurate.

SITREP from Underfire Miniatures on their facebook site.

There’s something to be said for doing the job properly…once & I don’t think that was the case with my last 28mm release. So, with a photograph this time, my I (re)introduce…28mm R.A.R. 1 ‘The Stick’.This is the first pack in a new line of figures for use in 28mm sized Rhodesian Bush War games. It contains four figures in total with one being the FN-FAL armed stick leader, two being FN-FAL armed riflemen whilst the fourth is the FN-MAG armed lmg gunner. A photo and link to the online store where they may be bought are below. Future releases will include a wider variety of poses, weapons, roles & equipment.https://underfireminiatures.co.uk/…/28mm-r-a-r-1-the…/

My comments – Stunning figures and with a bit of green stuff you could add small sleeping bags to the rear of the two figures which have not got them, if you want to add a bit of detail.

Looking at the faces I think you could get away with using some flesh colour and they could be used for later RLI on certain external operations, also RR, Support Unit, INTAF MRU, etc etc. There is a lot of scope for these figures.

All wearing standard regulation Rhodesian Army issue webbing and camouflage combat uniform. Very typical of the Rhodesian African Rifles Masodja. The figures are also wearing the combat cap in the classic manner of the RAR with neck flap half unfolded..

INTAF 28MM FIGURE IDEAS

Standard

I ordered the stick of RLI troopies from Eureka Miniatures which had a figure in shorts and floppy hat for a European INTAF figure, and the Aden British figures for more African INTAF figures to upgrade my INTAF troops to defend the keep. As can be seen from the photographs some European INTAF wore combat trousers also.

Once painted up they look the part of INTAF and the British Aden figures once given a coat of brown 29 for the skin look like AS INTAF STAFF.

ZIMBABWE LIZARD PATTERN CAMOUFLAGE 1980-1995

Standard
I found this on Kammondopost.com

A very interesting item as it informs us that the new camouflage introduced by the new Zimbabwe Army was actually a Rhodesian design originally produced for the BSAP.

After independence, Zimbabwe adopted a distinct vertical lizard pattern in order to distance itself from the Rhodesian period. The pattern in itself may be Rhodesian since similar vertical lizard items were trialed by the British South Africa Police (BSAP) in 1968, and collectors have obtained clothing items in the pattern from BSAP veterans (source: https://newrhodesian.ca/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=692).
